Required Experience:
  • Min  5 years of related experience with team-based software development, virtual environments, and backend application development.
  • Hands-on experience with one of any cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
  • Experience in designing scalable and fault tolerant architectures using a preferred cloud platform.
  • Experience with container technologies(docker and/or kubernetes).
  • Hands-on experience with a compiled language(Java/GoLang) Familiarity with any one of scripting languages such as Python, Javascript and Bash Preferred Experience:
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases, especially MongoDB/Dynamo, is a plus.
  • Experience in creating deployment pipeline is a plus.
 
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • The candidate should be people-oriented and technically savvy.
  • The candidate should be familiar with the business processes and procedures necessary to manage and maintain organizational technologies.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience on a production-level application.
  • The ideal candidate should have a broad spectrum of knowledge and experiences including but not limited to: software engineering, web development, project management, enterprise systems management, cybersecurity, system and business analysis
 
Job Description:
The individual will be responsible for integrations, upgrades, data migration, testing, and implementation, of Student Engagement and Career Services Systems like - OrgSync, Engage -Campus Labs, Handshake, PeopleGrove etc.   The individual will create work plans, delegate tasks, ensure plans are implemented without defects, review code for function and structure, test code to ensure the quality of deliverables, provide clarification and guidance on implementation standards and decisions. The individual will ensure that team members provide accurate and timely status updates and risks are identified early in the process. The individual will create risk mitigation plans for the upgrade components and data migration and will ensure appropriate information is communicated to users and stakeholders. Provide preliminary specifications for upcoming projects. Ensure systems meet necessary security guidelines for the modern era by evaluating form-based systems which uses arcane web technology and not supported by the relational and normalized database structure. Create a path for their refactoring and development to upgrade to newer technologies and supported by enterprise integrated databases. Evaluate existing vendor systems and recommend (determine if we can do them in house and what kind of resources would go into making it happen).  Ability to manage vendor systems based on business requirements.
 
Software Development: Develop new software solutions utilizing advanced data structures, relational database modeling and cross-platform web technologies in order to support and streamline current business practices. This process includes developing specifications and writing code to implement both the backend and UI of various applications. Develop proof of concept. Ensure proper documentation of code and processes are maintained Planning and organizing software development resources in order to estimate and complete projects on time while allowing for unforeseen challenges that may occur. Communicating goals and tasks as well as imparting an understanding of business logic to members of software development team in order to facilitate the development process. 
 
Communicate, coordinate, and resolve issues related to the upgrade and migration. Focus on delivery per-schedule and provides accurate and timely status updates to team lead and upper management, escalating roadblocks as necessary. Communicates clearly and effectively with team members, other IT teams, vendors, customers, and management.
 
The software engineer leads a team of design-focused software developers across project teams to implement technology solutions. (S)he advocates and supports developer growth and training in new development technologies.
 
Research  & Development: Explore and learn of new technologies, services, methodologies, standards in order to maintain a broad knowledge base that may be used to further organizational goals and streamline or automate existing processes and improve software quality. Develop specifications for new projects and existing system enhancements.
 
Employee Development: Mentoring student employees; providing them with background on technologies and industry practices, providing guidance in pursuing their career and educational goals, and providing options to further develop their technical skills
