Platform QA and Integration Video Engineering Coordinator 
Description:
Next generation content, applications, media (CAM) continue to form Charter's future product strategies and offerings. The introduction of new methodologies for product development requires experience in agile development and a keen understanding of how to successfully integrate next generation media services.
 
The primary role comprises responsibilities in solution implementation, certification, integration, and subject matter expertise in next generation IPVOD, Media Distribution, Content Delivery and Cloud Compute Infrastructure within Charter's Corporate Lab environments.  This Video Engineering Coordinator will work with Advanced Engineering, Infrastructure, Software Development, Product and Test teams to support environment builds, implementations, QA testing and operate IPVOD, CDN and Media Distribution Solutions within Charter Corporate Labs. 
 
Essential Functions and Accountabilities
·         Attend meetings with Architecture and Engineering teams to understand Platform and Video System environments.
·         Coordinate with Development Teams, Systems Engineers, Project Teams.
·         Review Design and Project Deliverables.
·         Assist Advanced Engineering Platform QA and Integration team with system management.
·         Install agents on servers, configure software for monitoring and log file extraction.
·         Monitor servers for uptime and availability.
·         Execute scripts and support file transfers for ingesting content; verify content ingested correctly into required systems.
·         Document changes to systems.
·         Log new test cases based on test criteria from Video and Systems Engineers.
·         Perform tests for successful video playout following upgrades or other planned/unplanned maintenances. 
 
Requirements:
Operator level experience with Linux with the ability to perform application configuration and administration.
Experience with CLI, Unix shells (bash, csh, other), shell scripting, various OS level daemon services including but not limited to SMTP, SNMP, NTP, DNS, crond, PAM, HTTPd, other.
Experience with infrastructure hardware including bare metal compute and storage components.
Experience with supporting distributed and highly available systems. 
Understanding of IPv4 and IPv6 networking.
Understanding of system engineering practice.
Understand Waterfall and Agile product lifecycle development processes.
Knowledge of network service protocols including - but not limited to - DNS, HTTP, Media streaming technologies, Object Caching, etc. 
Knowledge on distribution media delivery models (e.g. CDN) and associated media delivery streaming technologies. 
Knowledge of streaming media protocols (e.g. HLS, HD, RTSP). 
Knowledge or willingness to gain experience with video encoding, transcoding systems, translate, and decode.
Knowledge or willingness to gain experience with Video on Demand, Electronic Program Guides, Metadata Management
Knowledge or willingness to gain experience with media container formats including – but not limited to – 3GP, AVI, MPEG2-TS, MPEG program streams, MP4, FLV/F4V, Motion JPEG 2000, H. 264
Ability to analyze and interpret data.
Ability to communicate using the English Language
Proven technical writer.
 
Education
 
Pursuit or completion of B.S. Degree in one of the following areas: Information Systems, Software Development, Computer Science, System Administration, Network Administration or CNE (Certified Network Engineer) certification, preferred.
